Fundraising for Scholarships & More

Background

When faced with rising operating costs and yearly AAUW National dues increases, the board decided not to raise branch dues. A fundraising committee was formed in 2004 instead, demonstrating our branch's commitment to increasing finances for accomplishing the work we foresee in the years ahead
. We would also like to give more money for scholarships than we have been able to in recent years. What are your best ideas for a fundraiser: Food Flair, Artists' Studio Tour, an auction, or ....?

Projects for 2007-2008

Midwinter Scholarship Member Solicitation

Deadline for mailing donations was March 31, but please send in your check if you haven't already. The Solicitation plus proceeds from the annual Book/Media Sale below gives the Scholarship Committee the funds to disburse to worthy area applicants, both college juniors and matriculated grad students

5th Annual Book/Media Sale

Friday, April 25, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Mountain Lakes Library
Early Birds only admitted for $25, 8:30 a.m.-9 a.m. on Friday

This is your chance to pick up so summer reading and those biographies you have been meaning to buy for either 50¢ or $1.00, except for coffee table books. The titles are sortedadult and children's, fiction and non-fictioninto categories for ease of locating your favorite area to browse. We have DVDs, CDs, audio and video tapes as well. If you can wait until Saturday afternoon, everything will be half price from 1-3 p.m. and $5/bag afterwards.

But why wait until the bitter end, until everything is picked over. Come Friday and then drop back Saturday afternoon for that one choice story everyone else missed.

We have a special need of donations this year! The Girl Scouts have been collecting books door to door for other very worthy charities. We especially need our AAUW members and residents of surrounding towns to donate books on our collection days:
Wednesday, April 23, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, April 24, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For book donation pick-up, contact Ann Greek or for further info, Peg Collins.

Potential profit for our branch - $1,500-$2,000
